-- Start log: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 9:16:54 pm ASI Meeting Server time -- PhilipC says, "Hello everyone and thank you all for coming. " PhilipC says, "This is the 2013 Sept 18 Management Committee Meeting" Rose/Miros has arrived. PhilipC says, "I'd like to start us off, for the purpose of taking attendance, to ask all who are present to please state your name and position (or if you are a non-voting member)" PhilipC says, "Philip Crume, Chairman" dcarson says, "Dana Carson, Treasurer" pjbanyai says, "Paul Banyai, Vice President" Scottyg says, "Scotty Gammenthaler, Assistant Treasurer " Strangelv-1 says, "James Gholston, Secretary" Rose/Miros says, "Rosalie Dieteman Webmaster and Director" Rose/Miros says, "and Soaker of Biscuits In Soup" Strangelv-1 looks at Mike Delaney, listmaster and former director MikeD-1 says, "Mike Delaney, former director, sleeping" MikeD-1 says, "oh, used to be listmaster when we still thought we could still use lists" Rose/Miros feeds MikeD some soup PhilipC says, "I think that's everyone present. Let the record state that this meeting has quorum." PhilipC says, "If you will take a minute to check your emails, our secretary, has posted the minutes for the last meeting. Please take a minute to review them. " PhilipC says, "He posted the minutes about 2 hours ago" Strangelv-1 says, "There's one or two corrections" Strangelv-1 says, "One I corrected Jim Keravala's name -- that's on the link but not in the email" PhilipC says, "Please state what they are." Rose/Miros says, "and why aren't they in the leaders area on the website?" Strangelv-1 says, "Then I have a question -- Rose I've been listing you as webmistress, but you've been saying webmaster. Which should we be recording?" Rose/Miros says, "don't care" Strangelv-1: http://test.moonsociety.org/node/152 PhilipC says, "Then use webmaster as a generic term" pjbanyai says, "I just reset his password again. It works for loggin in. I think he may have requested the account again or tried to change the password himself. At one time the password could be easily changed. I think with the last update admin accounts became more restrictive on changing passwords. This may also be causing some database disconnect between the ASI Teamdir and the Moonsociety Teamdir." Strangelv-1 says, "Should I make that change before ther's a motion to approve the minutesL?" Strangelv-1 defaults to yes PhilipC says, "James, what is the second correction?" Strangelv-1 says, "The second correction is Webmistress to Webmaster, now performed" PhilipC says, "Alright, with these two corrections, does anyone have any objections to the minutes?" PhilipC says, "If not, can I have a motion to approve?" Rose/Miros says, "moved" PhilipC says, "Any second?" Strangelv-1 says, "Seconded" PhilipC says, "Thank you. Any discussion?" PhilipC says, "I'll give it 10 more seconds" Strangelv-1 has made his discussion already PhilipC says, "Hearing none, let's call the question" Strangelv-1 says, "abstain" PhilipC says, "All in favor please say aye. All opposed nay" Rose/Miros says, "aye" pjbanyai says, "aye" dcarson says, "aye" PhilipC says, "Since I cannot vote, and James abstained, that is 3 in favor. 2 abstentions" Scottyg says, "Team Director has always treated Admin users differently than regular users. Admin users passwords must be changed using the User Administration button, not by editing the user account." PhilipC says, "Next, I will open the floor for 2 minutes for discussion related to the agenda. Please refrain from giving any reports at this time" PhilipC says, "Gentlemen, please refrain from posting non-meeting related chatter here. " PhilipC says, "I am currently in discussion with Alan Steinberg regarding the bylaws revisions, which pertains to the topic of chapters. So we can discuss that" MikeD-1 says, "is the agenda posted somewhere?" Scottyg says, "Completing a discussion previously started by someone other than me." Rose/Miros says, "should be ON THE WEBSITE" Scottyg says, "If you don't like that, ask me to leave the meeting." PhilipC says, "We can also disuss the annual meeting" Rose/Miros says, "we talk about offline discussion and no one does it" Rose/Miros is already in a bad mood PhilipC says, "I also have another item for the agenda related to the website that I would like to discuss as well" PhilipC says, "Hearing no other additions to the agenda, we have:" PhilipC says, "1) Website transition" PhilipC says, "2) Annual meeting review" Rose/Miros says, "website utilization" PhilipC says, "3) Chapters revision for bylaws" PhilipC says, "Does this sound like a workable solution for everyone?" pjbanyai says, "Didn't we vote Mike into having a free year of membership to be effective 17 July 2013?" Strangelv-1 says, "We did" Strangelv-1 says, "And he's officially the listmaster" MikeD-1 says, "except I don't have access to do anything with the lists" pjbanyai says, "His status is still expired." PhilipC says, "Please remember to keep side chatter in whisper mode " PhilipC says, "Let's get started" PhilipC says, "Since Ken isn't here, we can skip the membership report." PhilipC says, "Next is the treasurer's report. Dana, you have the floor." dcarson says, "ok, check sent for Last Breath" AlanSteinberg has arrived. PhilipC says, "Let the record show that Alan Steinberg has arrived" AlanSteinberg says, "sorry for the late arrival, I was working" dcarson says, "emailed David Filmer about his double payment, he did intend to pay for four years" dcarson says, "he velives the pay two get three promotion is on" PhilipC says, "Welcome, we've just started the treasurer's report." dcarson says, "I can't rmember if it is but seems worth doing to reward someone paying for four years" Strangelv-1 says, "I concur" Rose/Miros says, "i agree" dcarson says, "any questions?" Strangelv-1 says, "DO we need to make a motion or is this strictly administrative?" PhilipC says, "So if David Filmer pays for 4 years, he expects to get 6 years of membership?" Strangelv-1 says, "That seems the implication" PhilipC says, "A natural question that arises here is do we want to award him individually or do this promotion again and make it available to everyone?" dcarson says, "yes, we had a promotion for that at an ISDC and he thinks it is still active" MikeD-1 says, "need to set and publish a 'no multi transaction' rule, and then allow him this as a one off for exposing the problem" dcarson says, "doing it again seems reasonable but after we get current stuff done" MikeD-1 says, "also need clear expiration dates on specials" dcarson says, "how is multitransactions a problem, if people want to spend money on us every week that is good" dcarson says, "and each transaction was for two years" MikeD-1 says, "true Dana, but 6 years for 4 paid is a bit much" pjbanyai says, "I thought the promotion was still in effect. However, I do not see Filmer paying more than $40 in Teamdir. He simply has multiple accounts with only one having a payment listed." Strangelv-1 could make a motion to rubberstamp this if needed, but is'nt up to writing language for a more complex motion right now PhilipC says, "Also keep in mind that at some point, when we provide better value to our members, heaven forbid we might actually want to raise the membership dues to be comparable to what other space advocacy organizations are charging" Rose/Miros says, "ok, still, we didn't say an expiration date, so i think we legally have to accept that" Scottyg says, "We sometimes have gaps between decisions of this body and assignment of an action item to implement them. MikeD is probably an example." MikeD-1 says, "Dana, I'm just wary of setting precedents" dcarson says, "there were two credit card transcarions two weeks apart" Rose/Miros says, "HOWEVER, we can put an announcement on the website saying sorry, the 3 for 2 deal is now ended" pjbanyai says, "Sorry I forgot he also did a quick renewal." Scottyg says, "The 3 for 2 promotion is still in effect." Rose/Miros has been known to rip the expired sale tags off the shelf and take them to the register with her PhilipC says, "So the options on the table are: a) grant Filmer 6 years worth of membership, b) announce the 3 for 2 promotion to all members, " PhilipC says, "or c) announce that the promotion has ended" PhilipC says, "while still allowing for option a" pjbanyai says, "We should probably promote the fact that our membership costs less than the others. We could probably get significant boost in membership." PhilipC says, "lower cost isn't always a good thing" Scottyg says, "The online registration clearly states that the 3 for 2 is in effect." Strangelv-1 says, "a) probab[ly needs to be done with eitnher B or C, my question is if it requires a motion" MikeD-1 says, "d) and/or impose a single transaction limit" MikeD-1 says, "but personally I'd even allow life membership on layaway" Strangelv-1 says, "IIRC GOA has life memberships on layaway" dcarson says, "if it states so on the registration page I don't see how it would" dcarson says, "we are advertising it" PhilipC says, "Dana, do you have any recommended course of action?" Strangelv-1 says, "o if we end it we need to remove it from the page" dcarson says, "give him the six years and decide offline if we want to drop the promo" Rose/Miros says, "c) announce the promotion is ENDING SOON, hurry hurry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1" dcarson says, "agree" PhilipC says, "It sounds like we're pretty close to a motion" MikeD-1 says, "then extend it due to popular demand" Rose/Miros says, "good idea mike" Rose/Miros says, "hurry hurry" Scottyg says, "See: https://www.moonsociety.org/register/register2.php (Ignore errors at top of page. This page is supposed to be the 2nd in a sequence.)" Strangelv-1 says, "Give an expiration date for the extension as well as before" PhilipC says, "Dana, would you like to make a motion?" dcarson says, "move we mark the 3 for 2 deal as ending in 2 months" Rose/Miros says, "second" PhilipC says, "Any further discussion?" Strangelv-1 says, "Standby" Scottyg says, "Dana, could you state that as ending on a specific date?" Strangelv-1 says, "Motion to ammend" Strangelv-1 says, "The expiration is on ..." Strangelv-1 says, "when is thanksgiving this year?" Strangelv-1 says, "I want to make sure we have a meeting right before it expires so we can extend it at that meeting" pjbanyai says, "Does anyone else get on the registration page the following - Notice: Undefined index: num_years in /virtual/moonsociety/ssldocs/register/register2.php on line 164 Notice: Undefined index: country in /virtual/moonsociety/ssldocs/register/register2.php on line 165 Notice: Undefined index: regtype in /virtual/moonsociety/ssldocs/register/register2.php on line 198 Notice: Undefined index: regtype in /virtual/moonsociety/ssldocs/register/register2.php on line 198" PhilipC says, "is it the 3 or 4th thursday?" dcarson says, "Nov 28" dcarson says, "4th Thurs" Strangelv-1 says, "oh good. I mwove to ammend to make the ebpiration 21 November 2013" Strangelv-1 says, "Thursday after our second meeting of the month" Scottyg says, "Paul, read my comment above." dcarson says, "I'll accept that amendment" MikeD-1 says, "there may be limits to how many consecutive months you can have a sale or promotion without reverting to regular price for a period" Strangelv-1 says, "Is that a second?" PhilipC says, "Is there a second for James' amendment?" Rose/Miros says, "second" PhilipC says, "Any further discussion on the amendment?" Strangelv-1 says, "call the question on the ammendment" PhilipC says, "All in favor of the amendment, say aye. All opposed nay." Strangelv-1 says, "aye" dcarson says, "aye" pjbanyai says, "aye" Rose/Miros says, "aye" Strangelv-1 says, "Do we need to make any other changes to the motion?" PhilipC says, "Alan?" AlanSteinberg says, "abstain" PhilipC says, "The motion carries 4 ayes, 0 opposed, 2 abstentions" Strangelv-1 says, "call the question on the main motion, and we need someone to write the announcement" PhilipC says, "Now on to the motion itself, is there any further discussion" PhilipC says, "So noted" PhilipC says, "All in favor of the motion, say aye" PhilipC says, "all opposed nay." Strangelv-1 says, "Aye" pjbanyai says, "aye" dcarson says, "aye" AlanSteinberg says, "abstain" PhilipC says, "Rose?" Rose/Miros says, "aye" PhilipC says, "The motion carries, 4 ayes, 0 opposed, 2 abstentions" PhilipC says, "Dana, do you have anything else for the treasurer's report?" PhilipC says, "Dana?" dcarson says, "no, done" PhilipC says, "Thank you." PhilipC says, "Now for the web committee report. Rose, you have the floor." Rose/Miros says, "um" Rose/Miros says, "we're still copying and pasting" Rose/Miros says, "poeple have expressed dislike of the current css" Rose/Miros says, "well, james and scotty and i and mike (testing) busted our butts working this one out" Rose/Miros says, "if you have an opinion, express it in simple details along with exactly how to fix it, or make a picture or some other way of expressing your details" Rose/Miros says, "since scotty is tied up, hope the wife is better, dana has been working on testbed.moonsociety.org so we can tinker without breaking the working site" Rose/Miros says, "personally, i have 2 requests" Rose/Miros says, "1) philip keeps talking about online colaboration. please make pages for your ideas in the Leaders area so we can comment on them" Rose/Miros says, "once people are COLLABORATING, we'll see about getting better tools to do so" Rose/Miros says, "2) if anyone does anything moon related, please make an "article" about it and if you can't put it on the front page, ask me and i'll do it" Rose/Miros says, "that eerything?" Rose/Miros says, "everything?" Rose/Miros says, "oh, the biscuits soaked in soup are yummy" MikeD-1 says, "damn soup saleswoman" PhilipC says, "Is that all for the web committee report?" Rose/Miros says, "i gave you a crock pot, make your own" Rose/Miros says, "yes, that's all" PhilipC says, "On to the first order of business, website transition" PhilipC says, "This is an item that I would like to discuss here" PhilipC says, "I'll start off by saying that we're pretty close to finishing the website (believe it or not). The main thing holding us back at this point is moving content from the old site to the new one." PhilipC says, "I would like to put out a personal request to all of us here to help out " Rose/Miros says, "we need fingers and keyboards........" PhilipC says, "If you can copy and paste text, you can help make a difference" PhilipC says, "We need the entire management committee to help out here to speed up the process" PhilipC says, "Afterwards the web team can go back to focusing on maintenance and maybe tweak the design into something we're all happy with" PhilipC says, "Of course we can add features over time, and this was expected. Is everyone here willing to help the web team finish up here? If so, when would be a good itme for you to work with Rose?" PhilipC says, "I'll open the floor " Rose/Miros says, "i also think we should put the minutes and agenda on the website in the Leaders area, then send an email to Go To The Website and read them" PhilipC says, "Of everyone here, Rose, Mike, Scotty, Dana, and myself are working on the website. If we have Ken, Paul, Ben, and Alan helping out, we can complete the transition much sooner" PhilipC says, "Perhaps even try to wrangle Peter to help too (if you're reading this Peter!)" Strangelv-1 says, "Content handling is the main structural thing we're lacking. Drupal has more modules than anyone can count that can help with this, but I was too busy working on the CSS/HTML/PHP side of things to look into it, and after putting about six months and 1200 hours into it I've been trying ot catch up on everything else I was neglecting for that time period, including two other websites for different organizations" PhilipC says, "My goal was simply to put the request out there. " Strangelv-1 says, "Whose websites are farl more modest undertakings" PhilipC says, "Whether or not that happens remains to be seen. " PhilipC says, "Moving on to item #2 on the agenda, a wrap-up on the annual meeting" PhilipC says, "I believe we had maybe 2 or 3 members show up, with one focusing on youth outreach" PhilipC says, "Ken gave his state of the society talk, where he had the officers and committee chairs give a report " PhilipC says, "Ken mentioned that our membership numbers are down a little from the previous high of around 176 members and that we're now down to about 154, which is still a little higher from previous numbers in the 130s" PhilipC says, "Dana gave a brief overview of our financials, that we have about $31k in assets" PhilipC says, "And I discussed the web transition process, where I basically repeated what I said a few minutes ago" pjbanyai says, "I would collaborate if I could. I can't edit anything posted by someone else. While I have more experience with Joomla than Drupal. There are instructive pages available on the web. I think it might help if there was posted a helpful guide on how to work with the site. I know with the old site I had to dig through about a 1000 nooks and crannies to find out how to do the most basic things. I think I even found a large amount of useful information hidden on the simshost site. " PhilipC says, "But what was most notable event for me was discussion of moving into a new direction with our projects" PhilipC says, "Paul, I'm sure Rose, Dana, James, Scotty, (or myself to a lesser degree) can give you any tutorials you'll need. It's basically as simple as editing a google sites page (it's all in the browser and very intuitive)." Rose/Miros says, "i'm still working out the kinks on permissions, i'll add permission to edit existing pages to collaborators" PhilipC says, "But back to the projects" PhilipC says, "What was most interesting to me is that we discussed the possibility of getting more involved with teleoperated robotics in conjunction with ISRU research" PhilipC says, "We spent at least 1/3 of the meeting on that topic." PhilipC says, "So I'll bring it up again here and my intention is only to detemine if this is something those of us here who didn't attend the meeting, would be interested in?" Rose/Miros says, "yeah, sounds like fun" PhilipC says, "Without going into too much detail at this point, what does everyone here think about this? Let's limit discussion for 10 minutes." Rose/Miros says, "as i said in the commons, we might be able to do a demo with a 6' sandbox in your basement with remote control lego robots" PhilipC says, "I'll open the floor" Strangelv-1 is tryingto figuerl out what to call this discussion in the minutes Rose/Miros says, "the remote control robotos discussion" Rose/Miros pokes at Strangelv-1. MikeD-1 says, "telerobotics... yes" dcarson says, "trying to partner or leverage off thre FIRST high school robotics contests might be good" PhilipC says, "I think we'll get the most bang for our buck if we focus on the pure science side of things, and perhaps focus on the network and maybe offer a standard user interface (possibly using Microsoft Kinect)" PhilipC says, "We can probably start off small and simple (using scoops/loaders) and later evolve to more sophisticated operations" MikeD-1 says, "is the kinect not just a handsfree version of a standard xbox controller?" pjbanyai says, "I have seen a few remote operation controllers listed on Kickstarter. The best so far seems to be Wigwag. They have several devices to essentially remotely control most of your house as well as RC toys. There was also recently several Kinect like devices listed on Kickstarter focusing on minute hand control instead of the whole body. " Strangelv-1 says, "Kinnects have been used for a lot of different things, including 3D scanning" dcarson says, "it has a wide ability to recognize motions Mike, lots of hacking and open source efforts witjh ti" PhilipC says, "Plus they're relative cheap, which means that this could be scalable " MikeD-1 says, "main value of kinect is in high speed dynamic applications" PhilipC says, "As in, I could write a few grants and bring aboard several hundred universities or other space organizations-type of scalable" MikeD-1 says, "not pooh poohing, just raising the point that it might be unecessarily complicated" PhilipC says, "keep in mind that we'll be the ones hosting the robots" Rose/Miros says, "i wanna run a toy buldozer around a sandbox in philipc's basement" pjbanyai says, "I think I saw somewhere a wireless device which could be placed on your arm and it would track both your finger and arm movements." PhilipC says, "it's making the interfaces widely available that gives this type of project the true level of influence" Rose/Miros says, "when we get bored, which might take a long time, we can bring other people in" Rose/Miros says, "remember, i'm easily amused" MikeD-1 says, "yes, but if it's built for exploring or mining the lunar surface it's not exactly going to move like the cars in need for speed" Rose/Miros says, "we do need someone monitoring to make sure people aren't writing dirty words in the sand and to erase if necessary" PhilipC says, "James and Dana spoke before about bringing back the engineers, I think this will be just the thing to do it" dcarson says, "motion tracking seems more useful for sophisticed manipulators, bulldozer having a remote with controls would be easier I'd think" PhilipC says, "Well we nee to wrap up this discussion" PhilipC says, "we can always experiment with the interface. maybe a simple keyboard & mouse would be enough in the beginning. " PhilipC says, "the main point was simply to put this out there, reiterate what was discussed, and see if this is doable" PhilipC says, "It seems that most of us here are on board" MikeD-1 says, "I'm with you on using a common interface, just not sold on kinect for this application at this time" dcarson says, "of course kinect is COOLER so might attract people" MikeD-1 says, "not opposed to kinect either" Rose/Miros says, "yeah, gotta have cool" Rose/Miros says, "remember, i'm easily amused AND entertained" PhilipC says, "before I wrap up, I want to make a note that Jim Keravala is on the board of PISCES..." PhilipC says, "we might be able to collaborate with them in some way. I would also be open to the possibility of somehow having a lunar sim site near alaska, northern canada or iceland (where they have almost 24 hour days).... but that's for another discussion" PhilipC says, "It's been 10 minutes. Let's move on to topic #3." PhilipC says, "James mentioned expanding the definition of chapters" PhilipC says, "Alan and I are currently working on revising the bylaws and we had some ideas on that." PhilipC says, "Alan are you here?" AlanSteinberg says, "yes" AlanSteinberg says, "Ikeep forgetting to type "say"" PhilipC says, "Would you like to share what we discussed regarding chapters?" AlanSteinberg says, "well as stated at previous meeting, I think we should eliminate the societies regulating of chapters" AlanSteinberg says, "basically allowing chapters to more or less organize and act independently" Strangelv-1 says, "We still need a recognition sturcture" dcarson says, "just typing " works as say and is less typing" Rose/Miros says, "otherwise we've got chapters of the moon and soup making society" AlanSteinberg says, "actually, my theory was to not have rules for chapters" Strangelv-1 says, "We need to be well positioned to gain preeoxisting chaphters, as well as chapters that would not havze been recognizable as such 25 years ago" PhilipC says, "I think what would really make this work is if we have a forums area where people can talk" AlanSteinberg says, "many groups allow chapters to form on an ad-hoc basis without formal recognition" AlanSteinberg says, "the concept of forcing chapters to be geographic based seems not to be working for the most part anyways" PhilipC says, "A forums area would give people an opportunity to share and communicate with one another without the need to show up at a physical location once a month" AlanSteinberg says, "even larger groups like NSS keep chapters but they don't really do much in person" Strangelv-1 says, "What if each chapter was recognized by motion of this body or a committee tasked with the purpose by this body?" MikeD-1 says, "I concur that geographical chapters are a complete flop" Rose/Miros says, "however, there are a couple chapters who are GETTING THINGS DONE and we need tol eave them alone" AlanSteinberg says, "the use of ad-hoc groups that can form using the internet that are project based rather than geographic based will be more feasable" Strangelv-1 says, "If something happens to the NSI core, the chapters will be the only reason why NSS will continue to exist" AlanSteinberg says, "people can meet in groups/chapters" AlanSteinberg says, "i'm just proposing that we don't need to have chapter rules and regulations" Strangelv-1 says, "We need to not just leave them alon, we needto make it easier for them to participate at higher leverls" Strangelv-1 says, "I'd rather not have an NSS style disconnect with the chapters and the core organization increasingly wondering why the other even exists" MikeD-1 says, "Might be an idea to have a Moon Society Starbucks Super-chapter with multiple divisions, since people sit around in Starbucks drinking coffee and using the internet" MikeD-1 says, "Facebook and Twitter chapters too" Strangelv-1 says, "Whigch gives us both people and a sponsor " Strangelv-1 says, "or potenitally a sponsor" PhilipC says, "Instead of calling them chapters, perhaps we can call them groups" Strangelv-1 says, "AS well as permutations we can't think of" MikeD-1 says, "not confined to starbucks" dcarson says, "recognize and provide support like web space and email lists to chapters but all they need to get that is to say they are a chapter, no geographic, numbers or membership status for members other then at least one has to be" AlanSteinberg says, "I feel like my point is being missed... the idea is that we don't need to manage chapters, but rather if people want to exist in a grouping they can on their own accord" Strangelv-1 says, "Chapters is the historical term, I would continue using that. And again, we need to be connected, just with a new relationship" Rose/Miros says, "we still need SOME rules, or they may not be recognizable as moon society affiliated" PhilipC says, "Ideally that relationship wold take place in forums" PhilipC says, "and as Alan already said, in projects" dcarson says, "and a list of existing ones that people can seastch to see if ther is one "near" them physically, electronically or whatever" MikeD-1 says, "if we're to provide online resources for them there is some need for structure" Strangelv-1 says, "It would be nice if our chapters had liasons sitting in this meeting" Strangelv-1 says, "Or perhaps theer's a separate chapters meeting and we senda liason there" AlanSteinberg says, "i think it's telling that none of us consider our selfs members of a chapter" Strangelv-1 says, "I want to be, but it's difficult givetn my candition" MikeD-1 says, "Alan and Philip, do either of you know of any active space advocacy forums?" Strangelv-1 says, "We need to make it easier for there to be chapters that we can join" MikeD-1 says, "emphasis on active" PhilipC says, "I started one myself a few years ago" Strangelv-1 says, "Ins it still active?" MikeD-1 says, "is it still active?" Rose/Miros says, "if i'd gotten my butt in gear, i'd be sitting at a table next weekend at bonagany trying to sell memberships to bonaventure students and their parents" AlanSteinberg says, "Mike, know any active Moon Society chapters?" Rose/Miros says, "but naturally, i found out........... today" PhilipC says, "It's how I got to know Charles and the other James (currently in the army)" Strangelv-1 says, "St Lois, Ft Worth, possibly Houstan and Phoenix" PhilipC says, "They both joined my group" PhilipC says, "But it eventually fizzled out for being too small" AlanSteinberg says, "we have people, who associate with chapters, but in reality do things themselves if they ever even do anything publicilly associted with the society as a whole" dcarson says, "do we have current flyers that I can drop on a freebie table at NostalgiaCon theis Frifay/" PhilipC says, "Dana, I'll see what I can do" PhilipC says, "Alright we need to wrap this up. Maybe we won't be able to reach a decision on this tonight. But let's keep thinking about this." Strangelv-1 says, "We have NSS chapters that are wanting to sign on with us but find our rules to be a show-stopper" dcarson says, "there is a largish old SF at it, one of this years "guests" is the original Blob" PhilipC says, "Let's move on..." MikeD-1 says, "Alan, for the most part I couldn't be bothered with chapters as they are, since there's only a handful" MikeD-1 says, "We lost the edge for technical groups a long time ago and most of our lists and teams are deactivated" MikeD-1 says, "So I'm open to ideas, and the idea of _open_ does appeal to me" PhilipC says, "Does anyone have any announcements to make?" Strangelv-1 says, "An extended membership number might be worth having -- add our official membership to people who are members of chapters. it could help to sell ourselves as an organization" PhilipC says, "It's now 11 pm EDT. Would someone like to make a motion to adjourn?" Strangelv-1 says, "so moved" PhilipC says, "Please keep in mind that we can continue this conversation at another time" dcarson says, "second" PhilipC says, "We are now adjourned." PhilipC says, "Thank you all for coming." -- End log: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 11:01:45 pm ASI Meeting Server time --
